Fake Out!

I found this next video on Youtube. It is an example of the kind of photo touchup that the media uses to make models and everyday people look better than they actually look!  So, next time you are thumbing through a magazine and wish you could look as good as the models, think twice!  They don’t even look like that!  Take a look!  Click!

Our Hope

Since hearing of the death of Amy I have been thinking a lot about heaven and the reality of it’s exsistance.  Although we can’t see heaven, we know it exsists.  We know that those who trust in Lord are living in heaven.  They are communing with Jesus Christ!  They are living in a full, amazing and dynamic way; a way that we cannot even fathom!  And so I want to share Revelation 21:1-5,  it is such a refreshing verse, a  hopeful verse that gives us a glimpse of what heaven will be like.  And to think that Amy is there now!  She is no longer in pain, no longer suffering…she is whole and completely envoloped by the love of Jesus and his tangible presence!

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no long any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Has the Enemy Stolen Your Identity?

We hear so much these days of identity theft.   My husband and I have been victims ourselves.   A  few Christmases ago someone went shopping with my husband’s debit card number and spent over $300 of our hard earned money!  It was frustrating, maddening and scarey all that the same time!  The Lord worked it all out and we got our money back, but of course the thief was never caught.  The police told us that these identity thieves are very clever and could have made a fake debit card with my husband’s number on it!

Although identity theft can be scarey and frustrating.  It is even more frightening when the enemy tries to steal our identity in Christ!  But for those of us who are in Christ, we are safely hidden away in Christ and protected from the destruction of the enemy.  Psalm 27:5 says, “For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.”  And Psalm 145:20 says, “The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.”

Not only does the Lord protect us physically he protects our very soul!  We are FOUND in him and he will never let us go! Collosians 3:1-4 says, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory!”  I love those words.  First, our identity is tied up in Christ through his death and ressurection!  He sees us through the blood that he shed on the Cross!  Because of that, CHRIST IS OUR LIFE!  And finally, because we are IN CHRIST, we will appear with him in heaven.  We are safe from whatever the enemy may try to throw at us.  This is so encouraging to me.  Sometimes I become afraid of the worst happening, you know what I am talking about here.  I think all of us let our minds wander and allow the enemy to fill us with fear of the unknown.  This is one of the enemy’s ways of trying to steal our identity in Christ.  But he can NEVER steal our idenity, because we are intermingled with Christ!  What an awesome reality!  Let that soak into your soul!  Let that encourage you today and in the days to come, whatever they may bring. Heaven

The New Jerusalem

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.  He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.  But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”   And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.  It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.  It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.  There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west.  The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls.  The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long.  He measured its wall and it was 144 cubits  thick,  by man’s measurement, which the angel was using.  The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.  The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,  the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.

I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.  The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.  The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.  On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.  The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.  Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
